EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE
PRESIDENT Andrew Thach ([email protected]) Coming into pharmacy school I was amazed to see the different things you can do in the profession of pharmacy. Unsure of what I wanted to pursue I actively participated in as many events offered from the various organizations on campus. What stood out to me was WesternU’s AMCP Chapter. I was intrigued by the dynamic versatility of what a managed care pharmacist can do that would influence a formulary, determine the approval of an authorized drug, and strategize ways to improve pharmacy practice that would save the patient money while improving health. My goal is to learn as much as I can about managed care pharmacy and share my experience and knowledge through AMCP in order to education my peers and create opportunities for them should they be interested. A fun fact about myself is that I enjoy visiting various hipster coffee shops for the ambiance and to read my Stephen King books. |
DIRECTOR OF FINANCE Sharon Lam ([email protected]) I wanted to join AMCP because I felt I could learn the most from a field I was the least familiar with, the field of managed care. By taking on an active role as a board member, I hope to help others in discovering various career options. Events such as Night of Managed Care, P&T Competition and MTM health fairs are just a few of many ways to learn about the field of managed care through WesternU AMCP! |
EXECUTIVE SECRETARY Anny Hyunh ([email protected]) The reason I am interested in taking a part in AMCP is the MTM aspect of managed care. Seeing my aunt having to live off a lengthy list of medications, I wondered are the medications really helping? Is this the best possible therapy for her? Of course, there are others living off many medications too. Thus, I would like to take this opportunity with AMCP to learn what managed care has to offer and be able to inform others what managed care is and how it can help. Fun fact: I can read words upside down. |
DIRECTOR OF COMMUNICATION, PUBLIC RELATIONS, and MARKETING Cindy Lee ([email protected]) I first heard about managed care from a friend prior to entering pharmacy school. Upon more research, I was immediately interested because I believe that an integral part of being a pharmacist is to be able to help patients manage their medications in a cost-friendly and patient-centered manner. When I found out that WesternU had an organization targeted at educating our fellow peers about the field of managed care, I knew I wanted to be a part of it. Fun Fact: I can tie my shoes with one hand. |
DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL PROJECTS Alexander Ou ([email protected]) I knew I wanted to be a part of AMCP when I found out about the field of managed care in the first few weeks of pharmacy school. Discovering AMCP expanded my perspective on the role of a pharmacist in healthcare, revealing a variety of future careers that focused on improving quality and cost of care for patients. I decided to run for this position to be able to set up opportunities for WesternU students to get involved in managed care, including outreach presentations, medication therapy management (MTM) health fairs and sessions. Moving forward, I would love to raise interest in AMCP and see more student pharmacists discover how they can directly impact patient quality of life through the options that this organization provides. Fun fact: I’m always hungry, specifically for ice cream, more specifically for coffee ice cream, and extremely specifically for Haagen Dazs coffee ice cream. |
DIRECTOR OF MANAGED CARE EDUCATION Hyun Ji (Angie) Chin ([email protected]) Before I started pharmacy school, I thought the field of pharmacy only divides into two fields: community and hospital. Thus, I didn’t have any clue about what the managed care pharmacy was. Throughout attending multiple events, I have learned wide range of components of managed care pharmacy and how it could impact one’s life to thousands of patients’ lives. No matter which field of pharmacy we choose, managed care practice are crucial skill that the pharmacist should have to ensure patients’ safety. Moreover, the role of managed care pharmacist will not only ensure the safety but will further promote the provison of best patient-centered services based on cost, efficacy, and patient’s accessibility. Thus, I have taken part in AMCP as a Director of Managed Care Education to inform our WesternU students about multiple aspects of managed care pharmacy with implementation of innovative approach to widen students’ career interest. Fun Fact: I am a huge fan of Marvel movies, especially Ironman is my favorite character 😎 |
